Who We Are
The 37208 Fund was created as per the recommendations of the 2020 Special Committee Report on 37208 chaired by CM Brandon Taylor, with the goal of empowering people who live, work, minister, and serve in 37208 to distribute funding to those making a difference in their own community. M. Simone Boyd and Whitney Pastorek partnered with North Nashville stakeholders, elected officials and non-profit leaders to launch the 37208 Fund in October of 2021. Initial funding was provided by The Healing Trust and The Frist Foundation. Corner to Corner, a North Nashville-centered organization dedicated to educational equity, economic equity, and spiritual growth, serves as the fiscal agent.
What is Participatory Grantmaking?
Participatory grantmaking “cedes decision-making power about funding – including the strategy and criteria behind those decisions – to the very communities that funders aim to serve.” The 37208 Fund Committee is comprised of people with deep ties to the neighborhood, who are tasked with making operational decisions, assessing applications, and awarding grants based on their lived experience within the community.
